What a Rehearsal Recording Can Tell You
A practical way to hear how the arrangement works while a rock song is still taking shape.

Record the Entire Run
A phone recording from the back of a room can answer a question that is difficult to settle while everyone is playing. Run the whole song without stopping and listen back together. Notice when the next section is obvious and when you only know it is coming because you remember the count.
Change One Thing
If a transition feels crowded, try giving one player a simpler part before adding another layer. Record a second take from the same spot. Comparing two versions of the whole song can tell you more about the arrangement than comparing isolated parts.
